Stopping or pausing an automation has different effects

The distinction between pausing and stopping an automation is important to understand. Pausing an automation means temporarily halting its progress, whereas stopping an automation means permanently ending its progress. It is essential to use the correct command according to the situation to ensure that the automation runs smoothly and efficiently.

Pausing an automation

When you halt a running automation:

- The automation contacts will not proceed to the subsequent stage.

- There will be no sending of emails or performance of any actions.

- New contacts will be put in line to initiate the automation, as long as they satisfy its criteria.

If you choose to resume the automation, all contacts will proceed through their respective steps. However, if an automation stays inactive for 30 consecutive days, it will be automatically transferred to the "stopped" state.

Stopping an automation

When you halt an automated process:

- The process will not begin by adding or queuing any contacts.

- There will be no sending of emails or carrying out of actions.

- If any of your contacts are currently undergoing automation, they will exit the process immediately and cannot be added back.
