A segment refers to a smaller group of people within a larger list. By dividing your list into segments, you can easily target specific individuals based on their interests or behavior. For instance, you can target individuals who are interested in a particular sport or those who did not open your previous campaign.
To generate a segment, navigate to the Lists section, select the desired list, access the Segments option, and then click on "Add".
You may create a segment on:
Data | Description |
Firstname | The first name of the contact. |
Lastname | The last name of the contact. |
List fields (incl. manually created) | Any extra list fields you've made |
Date created | The information regarding the creation date of the contact. |
Last updated | The last time the contact's information was changed. |
Source | The method through which they were included in your list, for instance, by means of an import or through the API. |
Segment | You can choose to either add or remove other segments that have already been established. |
Campaign activity | To enhance the effectiveness of your subscriber list, you can send targeted emails to those who have either clicked, opened, not clicked, or not opened your recent campaigns. The rules can be customized as per your preference to create a highly focused and personalized approach towards your subscribers. |
Tags | You have the option to add contacts with or without a particular tag. |
When you create a new segment by applying multiple filters, you need to define the filter match types. You can choose to include contacts that match all the conditions, any of the conditions, or none of the conditions. Additionally, you can exclude contacts that meet the criteria.
To segment your contacts, you have the option to choose from three match types:
All - This option requires contacts to match all filters within a filter group.
Any - With this option, contacts can match any filter within a filter group. This means that you need to select more than one filter, as contacts should match at least one of them.
None - This match type works on exclusion rather than inclusion, meaning that contacts must not match any filter within a filter group.
